Bee Breath (Bhramari)
A soft humming out-breath, like a bee - one of the quickest ways to feel calm.
- Calms nerves and an anxious mind
- The long hum naturally slows your breathing
- Nice before sleep

Follow the guide
Watch the animation and breathe with it - the words tell you exactly when to breathe in, hold and breathe out.
How to do it
- Sit tall and close your eyes. Relax your jaw, lips gently closed.
- Breathe in slowly through your nose.
- Breathe out with a soft, steady 'mmmm' hum, like a bee.
- Feel the gentle buzz in your face and head. Let the out-breath be longer than the in-breath.
- Repeat 5-7 times, then sit quietly for a few breaths.
Go gently: Keep the hum quiet and comfortable. Avoid it with an ear infection.
From the Vedic texts · Bhagavad Gita 6.19
The Gita compares a calm mind to 'a lamp in a windless place that does not flicker'. The steady hum of bhramari is a simple way to feel that stillness.
